Schools Out!!!

Good Bye Matua Rob

On the last day of school we had to say goodbye to someone special - Room 3's awesome teacher Matua Rob.

Here is Matua Rob with his class.

We have been so lucky to have Matua Rob at Russell School. He has done so much for us, like teaching us about the Alopha programme and taking the Culture Club. He has organised Umu's and Ma'a to come and visit and he was a great little pig at the concert!!
Thank you Matua Rob for all you have done for us.

We hope you will come back as a reliever next year!

Today Room One changed rooms with Room 9.
I felt excited when we went inside and I saw the lovely decorations and when we were putting our stuff in Room 9 it was a lot of work and when we went on the top field we had lots of fun games to play.

New Zealand Shakeout

On Thursday we were part of the New Zealand Shake Out!

We practiced how to drop, cover and hold like Peter Jackson and Richard Taylor.
We read a story called "Ana's Jelly" where they talked about the earth being like jelly when there is an earthquake, so we got to make and eat jelly !
We made jelly in the staffroom with Bernadette.

Thanks Bernadette!

Thank you also to Laolao, Maraea, Kanye, Taniela, Mokotupu and Xavier for taking the fantastic photos of the jelly making.

Gorgeous gate

When we got to school on Monday there was a "big parcel"

It covered our amazing new gate and school sign.

A Reverend came to bless the beautiful gate.

After the blessing a child from each of the rooms got to help "unwrap" the parcel.
Laie ( 3rd from the left ) waits to help

In our class, it was Laie was chosen because it was her mum Nina who painted the gate.
After the gate was blessed we got to walk through it!

Then Nina told us what the painting all means. Nina went to Russell School when she was a little girl.
Wow ! We think it is an amazing gate and Nina is a great artist!

What a classy group !!

We were lucky

First there were new lunchboxes
Then they hung them in a tree.
Next they added light and made them magical

Later they took them down and filled them

Bought them to Russell School

And we got a lovely lunch and we got to keep the lunchbox !
Thanks ' Feed the Kids too' and to everyone who made it possible. We LOVED the lunch and the lunchbox.
